Dexter's homegoing
In about an hour I will be part of a beloved man's homegoing celebration. Dexer Greenhaw, my music director and friend for the past 17 years, went to the other side Wednesday morning after a long battle with ALS. Dexter became my hero in how he handled his diagnosis and in how he showed me the joy of living while dying. He touched the lives of scores of people, many in his high school bands. He had a great sense of humor even in these last weeks. I never heard him complain. He was always positive and he made everybody who visited him feel better, while he suffered greatly. I'll miss him big time and so will his family and all his friends. I believe we are all better off because of this man called Dexter Greenhaw. Pray for us here at Friendship as well as his family as we go on with life.
God is good and all the time God is good. The best is yet to come.
God is good and all the time God is good. The best is yet to come.

Calvin:
I should have come over to let you know someone was praying for you for the strength to make it through the service, when I came into the building for Dexter's service. Your face showed you were struggling.
Just know someone was. I know it was a tough thing for you to do, but Dexter would have been proud.
Brandie asked me about the service when I got back home. I said the service was him to a "T". Even in the midst of the sadness, there were times his sense of humor made us laugh today. And, no one could have left today without knowing the impact the blood of Christ had on Dexter.
There was a person I graduated high school with I saw today. Someone who got caught doing something (s)he should not have done while a senior band member, with a scholarship waiting. Dexter did the only thing he could in the situation and kicked the person out. Lost the scholarship as well. But, that person was there some 20 plus years later. What respect.
See you on Sunday,
Tim
Calvin, We really enjoy all that you do! You are the BEST! Service was great Wed., Fri., and Sunday! You deserve some rest! We love ya!
Calvin: What do you really say to someone that has just lost someone and to all those that are grieving? I have only been at Friendship for a couple of years and I really don't know or can even imagine how you and the rest of the staff are feeling with the lost of Dexter. But I do know that it has to be hard as it is for the rest of us that loved him so much.
The service for Dexter on Friday was great and you could really feel his spirit in the place. I am so glad that I had these last couple of years with him and was able to tell him how much I loved him and how much I appreciated his encouragement and prayers for me.
The first time that I walked in Friendship I seen his smiling face and the first thing that he told me was that he loved me and he had been praying for me for a long time. I then knew that was where I needed to be. I am so glad that the Lord intervened in my life when he did because I got to worship with Dexter and be part of his family. He and I had a long conversation one day and it was such a blessing for me and so encouraging. There are things that he told me that I will never forget. He was such an inspiration to all. But most of all he told me that he was so proud of me and I thank God that he was part of my baptism.
Love ya,
San
